Kuzbassrazrezugol approves new production and investment plans for 2022

45.3 million tonnes of coal were mined by Kuzbassrazrezugol miners in 2021.

The company’s production volume increased by 5% compared to the previous year, in line with the target objectives. The main increase came from the Taldinsky mine, where an additional 1.4 million tonnes of coal were mined compared to 2020.

The company also increased its volume of shipments by 7% – a total of 43.6 million tonnes of coal were delivered, of which 30.9 million tonnes were exported, 13% more than in 2020 (exceeding targets), and 12.7 million tonnes to the local market.

More than 39.6 million tonnes of coal were processed in the company’s plants and facilities in 2021, also exceeding the previous year’s figures. The share of processing in the total volume of coal production was 87%.

In 2022, Kuzbassrazrezugol plans to produce 46.6 million tons of coal. To help achieve this, it is planned to increase the production of the Kaltansky open pit mine by one third (from 4.4 to 5.7 million tons). More than 43 million tons of product are planned to be shipped to consumers, including almost 32 million tons of coal for export.

In 2022, Kuzbassrazrezugol will continue to implement large-scale modernisation programmes for key mining, transport and technological equipment, as well as auxiliary equipment. In the course of the year the company expects to receive almost 500 units of new equipment, including mining dump trucks of various load capacities, hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, drilling rigs, etc. In total, Kuzbassrazrezugol plans to invest almost 500 million euros in the development of its production in 2022.
