Kuzbassrazrezugol will show tourists its coal mining processes

The Kedrovsky coal mine in Kuzbassrazrezugol (a company of the UMMC raw materials complex) has become one of the main sites of the new regional “Kuzbass. Fire in the Heart” approved by Rostourism (the Federal Tourism Agency).

Today the company is working on the development of a program of excursions, the main feature of which will be the possibility for visitors to try out some of the realities of miners’ lives. For example, tourists will be able not only to visit the company’s historical museum, see the mining equipment at work and taste the famous coal ice cream but also to pass the medical examination via the electronic medical examination system. The miners pass this medical examination every time before going into the mines. The system performs the complete check-up of the worker in only two minutes.

Representatives of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (Moscow) and the Kuzbass Tourist Agency were the first to familiarise themselves with the full itinerary of the excursion. Guests noted the company’s non-standardized approach and its willingness to present miners’ work with dignity to the general public.

Industrial tourism is a modern trend that today is developing all over the world,” noted the head of the Industrial Tourism Development Programme of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Olga Chandourenko. – It takes interest and courage to openly show tourists your work and allow them to enter where access is generally forbidden to the public. It means that the company has something to be proud of”.

As a reminder, the Kedrovsky coal mine in Kuzbassrazrezugol has long attracted foreign delegations and Russian and foreign celebrities. In particular, among those who have come to familiarise themselves with the work of the miners, are Dmitry Medvedev when he was President of the Russian Federation, the pilot-cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the President of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and even the famous French actor Pierre Richard.
