Liam Pitchford will play in Russia

The UMMC team has a new table tennis player. This is the 15th racquet in the world, the British Liam Pitchford. In 2016, the 26-year-old athlete took part in his first Olympic Games in Rio where he was included in the list of the 32 best players.  In 2018 he won the bronze medal at the Table Tennis World Cup. Last season he played for the Danish club Roskilde. In March 2020 at the ITTF World Tour Platinum Tournament, Qatar Open, Liam placed 2nd defeated by Fan Zhendong – 2:4.

The contract with Liam Pitchford has just been signed for the 2020-2021 season. UMMC Table Tennis Club newcomer Liam Pitchford said he wants to win the Champions League with his new club. “- I decided to join UMMC because it’s a very big club and one of the best in Europe that is always fighting for victory in the Champions League.

– For me as a very strong tennis player, the goal is to win this tournament. And with the UMMC I can do it, we have a very good chance of winning.”

Thus, in the new season of the Champions League which starts in September the UMMC team will have 3 foreign players: Jonathan Groth, Tomislav Pucar, and Liam Pitchford.
