UMMC basketball player Brittney Griner elected MVP of the Russian Championship for the 2019/20 season

The American basketball player Brittney Griner of the Yekaterinburg UMMC club was elected the Most Promising Basketball Player (MVP) of the Russian Championship for the 2019/20 season. The announcement was made on the website of the Russian Basketball Federation.

The Russian women’s basketball championship had to be suspended due to the threat of spreading coronavirus, and the UMMC team was named tournament champion after the regular championship.

Last season, Griner played 14 games in the Russian championship, averaging 20.4 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

The symbolic group of the top five players this season consists of Courtney Vandersloot (UMMC), Elizaveta Komarova (MBA, Moscow), Anastasia Shilova (Nadezhda, Orenburg Region), Emma Meesseman (UMMC) and Jonquel Jones (UMMC).
