Uralelektromed celebrates 30 years of its workshop with the widest range of products
The parts production workshop of Uralelektromed AG (a company of the UMMC metalworking sector) is celebrating its 30th anniversary. During these years the company has mastered the production of 1300 types of products and increased its production capacity up to 600 tons per year.
The main products of the workshop are electrotechnical (especially silver-coated) and anti-friction machined parts made from copper powder. Among them are electrical contacts and contact holders, power rails, and outputs of switchgear used in automatic electrical switches, switches, demountable connections of power circuits, welding equipment, electric rolling stock, etc.
“We have come a long way since 1990. Thanks to an active market position and continuous work to master new products, the product repertoire already includes several dozen articles. Today, the largest product segment are parts for electromechanical use. Such demand is due to the constant growth of this market in Russia and Europe, but also to the unique quality of these parts: they are as resistant as castings or parts made from rolled metal”, – said the workshop manager Vladimir Kazansky.
In 2016 the company was the first in the country to manufacture commutator blades for electric traction motors using patented technology. The test batch of blades is currently being tested on the RJD railways (the Oktyabrskaya railway and the Baikal-Amur Magistral). The contract provides for the testing of locomotive engines with Uralelektromed blades over a distance of almost 400,000 kilometres.
In addition, the company manufactures more than 100 items for the automotive industry, including bronze and graphite sliding bearings, half bearings, copper contact parts and feed rings.
In order to be able to produce quality products that are in high demand on the Russian and foreign markets, the plant is equipped with German and Russian high-performance presses with a thrust force of between 6 and 1000 tons as well as other state-of-the-art equipment.
The parts workshop also has its own physical and mechanical testing laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art measuring and testing equipment. Each batch of products is tested for all essential parameters and geometric tolerances.
It should also be noted that the production of sintered parts does not depend on any external supply of raw materials, as Uralelektromed is the only producer of electrolytic copper powder in the country. This ensures the economic efficiency and competitiveness of the company.
